Judge, Court of Criminal Appeals, Place 3 - Bert Richardson
The Texas Patriots PAC recommends Bert Richardson for Court of Criminal Appeals, Place 3.
One of two “Supreme” courts in Texas, the Court of Criminal Appeals is the court of last resort for criminal matters. One of the most critical responsibilities of the Criminal Court of Appeals is adjudicating death-penalty cases. We believe it is inadvisable to elect to the Court of Criminal Appeals judges who have no significant experience presiding over death penalty cases. People’s lives and the credibility of our judicial system is at stake in these cases and this is not the judicial level where We the People should take risks with unproven candidates. This Court is very hard working with an extremely heavy workload. It deserves to have experienced judges with demonstrated conservative values, wisdom and profound knowledge of criminal law who can contribute to quality of the justice administered and the efficient running of the Court by providing thoughtful and persuasive legal analysis of the issues confronting the court.

He has practiced criminal law full time in the state and federal system for over 30 years. Since he has been on the Court of Criminal Appeals, Judge Richardson has participated in over fifty death penalty cases, written and participated in hundreds of appeals from intermediate courts, reviewed hundreds of post conviction writs, with the exoneration of 8 defendants.
