Evan Young
Evan Young, who obtained his J.D. from Yale University, was appointed to the court to which he now is running for office. Young was appointed to the court after Eva Guzman resigned to run for Texas Attorney General. Evan Young began his career clerking for Judge Wilkinson on the US Court of Appeals, 4th Circuit, and then for Justice Antonin Scalia at the U.S. Supreme Court before Scalia’s untimely death. He then was Counsel to both US Attorneys Generals Alberto R. Gonzales and Michael B. Mukasey. In private practice, Young argued cases before the Supreme Court of the United States and the Supreme Court of Texas, as well as numerous federal and state appellate courts. He has been an adjunct professor at the University of Texas School of Law, where he was named professor of the year.
David J. Schenck
Born in Syracuse, N.Y., David Schenck received his J.D. from Baylor Law School. Mr. Schenck has most recently served as judge of the Texas Fifth District Court of Appeals. Describing himself as a constitutionalist, when asked what judicial legacy he wanted to leave behind, he said, “Honesty, courage, and fidelity to the Constitution.”
